Sturdy with good light and sound effects.

Details

This is a fantastic little game and the only one of our picks that comes with a rechargeable battery. It has lots of modes, 15 levels, 8 speeds and 15 songs. Decent quality and robust with goods lights and sounds. Not many downsides but you can't play whilst the game is recharging (4 hours charge for 6 hours play time).

This is decent game but pricey when compared to the Gofimyee. It has one special button though that few others have - MUTE! Whack a mole games are hectic, noisy and repetitive - if the idea of a mute button sounds magical then the premium might be worth it.

Plastic Pounding Bench with Xylophone

Bright, cheerful, and made for little hands, these Montessori-style plastic toys combine fun hammering with musical play. Featuring built-in xylophones and lightweight mallets, they’re great for encouraging coordination, rhythm, and motor skills. While not as tough as wooden alternatives, they’re sturdy enough to handle enthusiastic toddler play and make a colourful, engaging gift for curious little learners.

Kaysaitoy

Comes with a good sounding xylophone and having the ABC & 123 is a useful addition for fun learning

Take note of the dimensions. It's on the smaller side. The main product image is misleading.

Hola

Good design features and very sturdy.

The Ball Bounce Button is great fun and the detachable xylophone is very handy.

Wooden Pounding Bench with Xylophone

If you’re after something a bit more durable and classic, these wooden pounding benches tick all the boxes. Combining the satisfying whack of a mallet with the cheerful chime of a xylophone, they offer double the fun in one compact toy. Great for improving coordination, rhythm, and hand strength — and tough enough to stand up to enthusiastic little bashers.

Hape

Three fantastic looking sets. They all have 3 balls and a detachable xylophobe but there are some differences with the hammer and mallets.

They all do a simple job well and the choice may just come down to your preference for colours or brand.

If you choose Hape you know you are going to get a good solidly built and environmentally sound product - but you will be paying apremium.

Pounding Bench

Simple, satisfying, and entertaining — pounding benches are a timeless favourite for helping little ones build coordination, strength, and focus. With our two recommended sets the pegs are securely and safely attached and they and both sturdy enough to take a good bashing.

Battat

The is a lovely looking set that has been built with education and entertainment in mind. You get a total of 10 pegs that are each numbered, in different colours, and with faces painted to display different emotions. There is also a handy slot to store the hammer.

Melissa & Doug

This is a more classic version of the game from a brand with a reputation for making solid products. You only get 8 ‘peakaboo’ pegs but they are bright, they are bold and they all greet you with a big bright smile.

There’s a bash-tastic game out there for every kind of kid. Whether you are looking for giggles, skills, an old-fashioned face-off or some simple frantic competition there is a game for you.

So grab a mallet, pick your player, and get ready to whack, tap, and cheer your way through hours of fairground fun.
